Hi, I'm Endie aka The End. I organise the duathlons, charity rides, rides and runs that Malakoff Corporation Berhad supports.
Malakoff is in the power business, and we are sometimes referred to as 'Powermen'.
But among corporate Malaysia we are known as the Power People because a much higher than average number of Malakoff people are involved in endurance sports.
We run, we bike, we swim, we dive. Okay, we also golf, sometimes but we try to keep it quiet because golf doesn't go with our Power People reputation and image.
Malakoff is not just populated by young people in their 20s, so our corporate culture of endurance sports and testing the boundaries and reserves of our stamina is unusual.
Our MD/CEO has participated and finished (this is a major achievement - ask a triathlete or a duathlete) in the Ironman Triathlon and the Powerman Duathlon series numerous times. He's in his 50s and can probably whup most 20 year olds when it comes to cycling, running and swimming.
Malakoff pioneered corporate support for the duathlon from 2002 and we have been supporting the development of this sport since.
We first held the Malakoff University Duathlon Series in 2003, with the aim of finding new talent from among university students to represent Malaysia at the international level.
Honestly, the response from students was not as good as we wanted, namely because most didn't have the all important bicycles. That has changed and the time is right for MUDS to return.
So sign up for MUDS 08 even if you're not a university student, but especially if you are. Get details at www.duathlonseries.com.my.
